Caregiving is rewarding but can be stressful, too! Attend this 6-week workshop, Mondays, October 6-November 10 for help!
Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a program designed to help family caregivers take better care of themselves while caring for a family member or friend. This program will give YOU, the caregiver, tools to help you reduce stress, communicate effectively with others, take care of yourself, reduce difficult emotions (like guilt, anger, and depression), help you relax, make tough decisions, set goals, problem solve and so much more!
This workshop will help you:
- Take care of yourself and prioritize your needs
- Reduce stress
- Make tough decisions
- Reduce feelings of guilt, anger, and depression
- Communicate in challenging situations
- Work with family, providers, and care staff
- Set goals, problem-solve, and more!
Eligibility criteria: Current, non-professional caregivers
Cost: Free of charge but donations are accepted.

What is it? This workshop is a 6-week evidence-based program to help caregivers build the skills to take better care of themselves while caring for someone else. Led by trained facilitators and presented by Tri-County Office on Aging
Research shows that caregivers who attend this workshop show improvements in self-care behaviors (i.e. relaxation, exercise, medical checkups), emotional management (reduced anger, guilt, depression), self-efficacy (increased confidence in coping with caregiving demands) and the use of community resources. By taking care of your own health and wellbeing, you become a better caregiver!
Who should attend?
Powerful Tools for Caregivers will benefit you whether you are caring for a parent, spouse, friend, neighbor, etc. The person you are caring for can live at home, in a nursing home, or across the country. This workshop is not intended for professional caregivers.
Program Features:
Interactive style. Includes group discussion, problem-solving, skill building, sharing practical solutions and much more.
Utilizes the book “The Caregiver Helpbook.”
Free to attend (donations are accepted).
